Gede Ruins in a 12th century Swahili village that was mysteriously abandoned approximately 600 years ago.  It is now a national museum and the ruins are overgrown with beautiful indigenous forest, baobab and tamarind trees.  It is well worth a visit and walk around with Sykes monkeys, numerous bird species and a glimpse into the old Swahili culture of the 16th century. Open from 7am to 6pm. Malindi tropical nurseries are another interesting afternoon walk through acres of tropical palm nurseries and other indigenous coastal plants and trees.  It is a commercial nursery with plants for sale.
